With senior entries and juniors, this event has grown into the largest family fishing event in Australia each year. Whilst the waterways, both inshore and outer reefs were policed by officers from Gladstone, Yeppoon and Redland Bay Water Police, the township and event crowds were dealt with by local police with the assistance of Gladstone crews. The event is licensed to 10pm each night, with crowds in excess of 10 thousand gathering in hope to be one of the daily winners of the thousand worth of prizes on offer over the three nights. Each of the three days saw the local boat ramps busy with keen anglers heading off shore and the shores off the Boyne River, Lillies Beach and Wild Cattle Creek were littered with families enjoying the outdoors that Tannum Sands has to offer.
